What a month it has been. Two test weeks and so much technique correction. OY VEY. Do I even have any new pictures? Nope.
We did some testing at the end of February that was god awful... and then we had a test week exactly 1 month later (mostly because we were doing a new treadmill vmax/speed workout and needed to calculate our max speed). The Tuesday before our Thursday swim test, my friend and elite triathlete, Brad decided to suggest I "use my hamstrings" when I kick. Now, if you know me, you may know if I have muscle ANYWHERE it's in my quads and hamstrings, so upon attempting this I immediately felt like I was torpedo'ing into every wall. It took 7-10 sec off each 100y. Pretty cool, huh? Then I had a pretty great swim test. HOORAY! Or well, at least better than before. 30-min 1500, here I come!!!
Yesterday my coach was at swim and helped me work some more on form. I finally feel like I have some direction for getting better in the water and it's making me *gasp* excited to get in the pool!
My run test basically consisted of me holding 6:30 pace until I felt like I may die so... that was fun. Now I've got some pretty brutal repeats to do (well, most of the team does). My power on the bike just keeps on creeeeeepping up. 8 more watts in a month. I feel a little like the tortoise - slowly but surely I'm going to win my race.
Today we had a pretty brutal workout that asked for 20 min at 30-min race pace which ACTUALLY went pretty well. On the tri-front, things are looking up. I'm trying to come in sub-2:50 on my next tri (eeeeek) which is 6-7 min off my best time. I'll keep on trucking through the snow.
In other news, it's job application time as I'm GRADUATING. Really excited and looking for work in the marketing field. Surprise surprise: tri has invaded there too as I'm looking at some athletic companies. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED.
